How to find your PS4 local IP address step by step
You can check the address without installing an app or signing in to your router. The steps are the same on PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.
- Turn on your PS4 and open the function screen.
- Select Settings from the top menu.
- Open Network.
- Open View Connection Status.
- Find IP Address. This IPv4 number is your PS4 local IP address.
Common examples: 192.168.1.35, 192.168.0.24 or 10.0.0.18. The exact address will be different on each network.
Where the IP address appears on PS4
The View Connection Status screen shows details about the connection your PS4 is currently using. Along with the IP address, you can see the network name, connection type, signal strength, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS servers and NAT type.
The address you need
IP Address: identifies your PS4 inside the local network.
A different address
Default Gateway: this is normally the router address, not the console IP.
Do not confuse the MAC address with the IP address. A MAC address identifies the console's network interface and uses a different format with letters and numbers separated by colons.
Finding the PS4 IP over Wi-Fi or wired LAN
The path is the same whether your PS4 connects through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. The screen shows which connection is active and the address assigned to that network interface.
Wi-Fi connection
You will also see the network name and wireless signal strength.
Wired connection
PS4 will show a wired LAN connection and its corresponding IP address.
If you switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, the router may assign a different IP address. Check this screen again before creating a DHCP reservation, forwarding ports or troubleshooting a connection.
PS4 IP vs router IP vs public IP
A home network uses several IP addresses, each for a different purpose. To identify the console inside your home, you need the PS4 IP Address.
- PS4 local IP: identifies only your console on the network, for example 192.168.1.35.
- Router IP: is the default gateway, often 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
- Public IP: identifies your home connection on the internet and is normally shared by your PS4 and other devices.

What to do if the IP address is not shown on PS4
PS4 is not connected to the network
Go to Settings → Network → Set Up Internet Connection and connect the console through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. The router must assign an address before it can appear.
PS4 cannot obtain an IP address
Restart your PS4 and router, select the network again and check the Wi-Fi password. If you entered the network details manually, verify the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway.
The address starts with 169.254
An address in this range usually means the console did not receive a valid IP from the router. Check that DHCP is enabled on the router, restart both devices and try again.
The console IP address changed
This is normal: most routers assign addresses through DHCP. The IP may change after restarting the console or router, when the DHCP lease changes, or when switching between Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
How to keep your PS4 IP address from changing
If the console needs to keep the same address, the safest option is usually to create a DHCP reservation on your router. The router will recognize the PS4 and assign the same IP without requiring manual network settings on the console.
Sign in to your router, find a section named DHCP, Address Reservation or Static IP, select the PS4 and reserve its current address. The exact name varies by router manufacturer.
Important: knowing the PS4 IP does not improve speed or change the NAT type by itself. It lets you identify the console in the router when performing a specific network configuration.
